Time for some Irish Whiskey, with a recent addition to the high end segment in the form of this Jameson 18 Bow street.
This Jameson Bow Street 18 Years Cask Strength is a blend of pot still and grain Irish whiskeys, bottled at cask strength and matured initially for 18 years in both ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks at the Midleton Distillery located in Country Cork, after which It was re-casked into first-fill ex-bourbon American oak barrels for a final 6 -12 months at the Jameson Distillery Bow Street in Dublin, which boasts a tiny 84 cask-storage facility, a real ‘small batch’ edition.
This whiskey does not come cheap as you can imagine, bottled at
55.3% it costs around £170 over at TWE.

Nose: thick vanilla and wood spice, caramel candy, polished wood, balsamic vinegar. Very sweet indeed ! almost bourbon-like, old wooden cabinets, dried banana, and coconut shreds.
Palate: thick and rich, with more sweet nectar vanilla and wood. Banana bread, vanilla custard, cinnamon rolls, pepper and clove.
Finish : to feed sweet, then drying with lots of oak, and spice.
Conclusion: This is a yummy whisky indeed. Rich, thick and hedonistic. Very much Bourbon-like at times, but much more refined. Sweet and lovely, It’s very more-ish and highly drinkable, which is dangerous considering its not a cheap one… Very good blending work. Recommended.
