White Peak Wire Works Bourbon Barrell

yes, I’m back!

It’s been a very ‘special’ couple of years… war, hostages, more war, government trying to kill Israeli democracy, etc. I took a long hiatus, and now I feel like writing whisky notes and blogging whisky again. Going to post a few review I’ve been meaning to post. Hoping for some normality again.

This is the second release in the Wire Works Provenance Core Range which has a deep connection to Derbyshire’s industrial heritage and innovation, giving this Wire Works whisky a strong sense of identity. Every step of the life-cycle – mashing, fermentation, distillation, maturation – happens onsite at the distillery for unmatched traceability and integrity.

Wire Works Bourbon Barrel , 53.4 % , £55.75

Nose :Smells like caramel and walnut candy, with roasted almonds, chocolate bits, and light smoky notes. You’ll also pick up fresh coconut and vanilla fudge, mixed with burnt grass and charred wood.

Palate :Smooth and full-bodied. Starts with creamy fudge against light smoke, cooked apples, and black pepper. Then you get more apple and orchard fruits, plus pineapple (both sweet ripe and a bit tart) and hints of gummy bears. There’s a nice charred flavor in the background, and a peppery tang, maybe related to the high abv.

Finish :Gummy bears and apple candy stick around, along with polished wood and creamy coffee.

Score: 85/100

Available @ TWE site , £55
