Westport 15 Year Old Burns Malt Whisky

Today we’re going to review a Teaspooned malt by the name of Westport. Now, Westport is not a distillery. For those who are unfamiliar with the notion of Teaspooning, a short explanation is due: Some distilleries do not want their cask bottled by Independent bottlers to carry the distillery name (brand issues, etc), Glenmorangie is one, but they do allow to bottle a cask under a different name, after it has been mixed with a tiny amount of other malt (by that time the liquid can not be bottled as a single malt anyways). This is known as Teaspooning. This Westport came from a single ex-bourbon hogshead cask #3299 bottled July 2013 and containing – 99% Glenmorangie with 1% Glen Moray, and was bottled for TWB.
