Time for a quick dram, this time with yet another Wemyss malts, I’m on a mission to review them all, and I’m getting there, aren’t I? This one is a 1989 single cask Tullibardine (not had many of those at all!), which is another reason to be merry – a new distillery on the whisky Israel list. Lately Master of malt added quite a few of their whiskies (Wemyss) and also the TWE, so it’s widely available. This cask is again watered down to 46% ABV, I wonder when we’ll see Wemyss single casks at CS. Let’s get dramming then:
Wemyss Rum ‘n’ Raisin 1989 (Tullibardine) , 46%,£85
Nose: Raisins soaked in liquor. Cherries in rum. Spicy stuff, with Big wood. Kirsch. White chocolate. Whiff of smoke.
Palate: Spicy with chocolate fondant filled with sugared cherries dipped in liquor.
Finish: long. Fruity. Chocolate with kirsch and cherries.
As you can see this is a spicy,rich with tons of cherry on the nose,palate and finish. good stuff. If you like that sort of nose. If you do not appreciate cherries, do not approach.
