Littlemill 24 yo 1990/2015 53.7%, Cadenhead, Small Batch,
So, another Cadenhead’s small batch this time a Littlemill (yeah!)   distilled 1990 , bottled in 2015, it is officially a 24 year old single cask. The last Littlemill I tasted (that awesome 25 OB I tasted in October ) left me wanting more. This is an ex-bourbon cask and not finished in Oloroso, …

An ex-bourbon cask Glenfarclas? yes! –SMWS 1.194 Attractive, rounded and comforting, 16 yo

A bourbon cask Glenfarclas? Blasphemy! some would shout, and indeed there are not that many cask GFs bottled from an ex-bourbon. Indeed, Glranfarclas is synonomous with sherry maturation, and although you’d never guess this was a GF blind, their spirit is top notch, and works perfectly well with ex-bourbon. I’ve tasted a bourbon cask sample way back when the Glenfarclas …

Time for some more SMWS , this time with a 10 year old Clynelish with this very nice name (we’re used to those from the SMWS, aren’t we?). The facts are : 1st Fill Ex-Bourbon Barrel , 10 year aging, bottled at a nice 60.5% abv ,and destined for the NZ market (so says whiskybase).  Some people will think a …

A rocking chair dram – SMWS 9.80 [Glen Grant] 20 yo Sauternes Cask

Time for a few SMWS bottlings I tasted recently from the last year or so, and the first one is a delicious ultra sweet whisky from a refill Sauternes cask.  Distilled on the 16th November 1992, and bottled at 49.5%.

The whisky barrel 12 yo port Charlotte

This is yet another sample I was fortunate to taste from the recent TWB Burn’s Malt range of single casks. There’s also a funny story here. You see, when I got all 3 samples each said 25 year old, which was quite true for the Aultmore, but a bit suspicious for a Port Charlotte, which has not been bottling whisky …

A couple of indies from Langside Distillers (distiller’s art)

I must be honest, I never heard about this label (distiller’s art) before I got the samples for review (thank you the W club). It seems this is a sub label of Douglas of Drumlanrig, the IB you may have heard about. So, basically I came to review those without any prejudice, hoping for the best. You never know what’s …

Irish single malt 2003 [Whisky Fassle] , 10 yo

So, an undisclosed single cask from an Irish distillery distilled 2003 and bottled 2014, making it 10 yo, bottled by Whisky Fassle. Sounds intriguing doesn’t it? Not much else is provided : aged in a Hogshead. Is this a young Bushmills? might very well be… We tasted this as part of a Mini Irish flight (along with Red Breast 12 …
