More Bruichladdich Micro Provenance : Cask #543 (Full term Port)

Released along with Yesterday’s 2 single cask releases (the sherry, and sauternes cask) This full term port cask concludes the Micro Provenance tasting notes for this week. As many port cask whiskies, this is again a very pink whisky, some love that color, and some don’t, but what really matters is the whisky, right? let’s try that one too…  (cheers Stu).

Bruiclhaddich CASK 543 , 60.1%, £90 543

Nose: As you can expect with a port cask, this is quite a feast of red fruit : berries : strawberries, blackberries, blueberry jam, and quite a lot of the signature Laddie with lactic notes, and sweet condensed milk. There’s also a touch of a smoke, more cured meat sort of than wood smoke. all works quite well, but it’s not a kind of in your face nose…

Palate:  Again, big bold fruity sweetness, with strawberry ice cream, berry marmalade, and more cure ham, overripe orange and a hint of juice concentrate, some old school boiled sweets too.

Finish: Sweet fruit, getting tart, then a touch of smoke, and desert wine.

This is a funky one. it’s rather tasty, with all the red fruit exploding on the palate, and quite the nose. Some would find it a bit too much, as it’s not a gentle dram. If you’re a port whisky fan, get this one. the fruit and the slight smoke works well together. For me it’s a nice after meal whisky.

This one is still avilable online on the Laddie shop. 90 quid and it’s yours.
