Tasting Glenmorangie Duthac (Travel Retail)

Glenmorangie Duthac weirdly came into existence without any PR campaign, or anything by Glenmorangie, which is rather odd. Usualy  there’s quite a big fuss when a new expression comes out in the LVMH group. I first heard about it from a blog reader who asked me if I had heard about it (he works in the TLV duty free), and …

The new Port Charlotte PC 12 (Travel Retail) – Review

I can’t believe Port Charlotte 12 is out, It seems like yesterday when the baby PC5 came out, and it was HUGE. This toddler is now a teenager, and I am loving the way it developed over the years. This is the oldest PC EVER (there are a few Indie PC of the same age).
Yesterday’s Octomore TR edition (7.2) proved …

A new Octomore for Travel Retail – 7.2 – Review

Lately Bruichladdich are releasing quite a few Travel Retail only editions of their Octomores and Port Charlottes and this one is the second wave of such releases. The Octomore “.2” usually stands out for wine finished Octomores, and this release is no different  – as the Octomore 7.2 is a limited edition in which Jim McEwan  has married American oak …

Glenmorangie Dornoch [Travel Retail] – Review

The new Glenmorangie ‘Tusail’ is just around the corner (released already, and I shall review it shortly), but prior to that Glenmorangie released another Travel retail only expression by the name of “Dornoch”. It’s not surprising this is a NAS expression. Why Dornoch?
Glenmorangie is Gaelic for ‘the glen of tranquility’ and the Dornoch expression was inspired by the distillery’s peaceful …

The Bowmore Travel Retail Range : Part III – Gold Reef

We’ve reached the third and final tasting note for the latest Bowmore Travel Retail range. After the lovely Black Rock and great White Sands 17 yo comes the third expression in the series : the Gold Reef. Bottled without age statement, and like the White Sands, it’s aged in mostly ex-Bourbon casks (while the 17 yo is aged in 100% …

The Bowmore Travel Retail Range : Part II –‘White Sands’ 17 yo

After the lovely NAS Black sands with all that sherry influence, comes an age statement expression intended for travel retail, not something you see every day in the TR market.  This Bowmore was aged in 100% ex-bourbon casks, bottled at 43% (a bit higher would have been nicer). It comes in standard 700 ml bottles, and not in the 1 …

The Bowmore Travel Retail Range : Part I – ‘Black Rock’ NAS

Time to take a look at Bowmore’s offering for the travel retail market (duty free), after Bowmore changed the entire line-up of offerings a few months ago. Currently the TR range consists of 3 whiskies : Black Rock (which I will review shortly), Gold Reef , and White sands 17 yo. While the first two are NAS (as many of …

The Glenfiddich ‘Cask Collection’ series–NAS–duty free

Remember the Glenfiddich 15 year old (one of the best in their line, by far for me)? You probably know its produced by ways of mixing q lot of casks in a big Solera Vat, right? So, now Glenfiddich took a further step in the Solera way, and built three more Solera vats to host these 3 new whiskies, all …

Johnnie Walker “The Royal Route” [Explorer’s club collection]

This is the third and most exclusive (read: expensive) of the Travel Retail Explorer’s club collection. I wont bore you with the name, and the rest of the PR details. I’ve reviewed the previous edition a few months ago and concluded it was nice, but expensive. This is even more expensive, but also nicer IMHO.
JW Explorer’s club collection, The Royal …
