More Signatory Goodness : Laphroaig 1998 / 16yo / Signatory cask #700389 – Exclusive for TWE

Time to end the week with another Indie bottling by Signatory sold exclusively on the Whisky Exchange  : and this time  a sherried Laphroaig.  Sherried Laphs are really good fun, and I doubt someone will be able to say they ever had a really bad sherry cask Laphroaig. At least for me Sherry and Laphraoig do work well together almost …

TWE Exclusive: Glenlivet 1981 33yo, signatory Cask # 9464 – Review

It’s really hard to find BAD signatory bottlings, I’ve tasted quite a few, and you can be fairly sure that you’ve got a nice dram when you bought one. I’ve blogged about a few over the years, and drank others, and mostly loved them. A very good IB. So when I got 3 wee samples of exclusive Signatory bottling for …

Mortlach 1990 cask 6074 [Signatory vintage] – Review

With the soaring prices of the new OB Mortlachs, The only reasonably priced good quality Mortlachs you can afford or find these days are by IBs. Thank god they still have quite a lot of casks laying around and we’re able to enjoy this lovely distillery without having to suffer the consequences of its Dalmorisation * . This whisky was …

Clynelish 1996 18 yo cask 6514 [Signatory Vintage]

You never know what you’re going to get when you’re shopping single casks. Each cask is an enigma, and sometimes you score, sometimes you are disappointed. I was browsing WhiskyBase shop when I saw this Clynelish, aged in a refill sherry butt, that looked promising, and decided to get it for a future tasting I am leading. 590 bottles were …

Highland Park 24 yo [Signatory] Casks 753 & 754 – Review

Last week I was visiting a friend, when he shoved a sample into my hand and told me : taste it , it’s a good highland park! . I can never say NO, to a highland park (let’s admit it, I can not say no to good whisky. period), and I made a mental note to remember and taste it …

Glenlivet 1998, 15yo– Signatory for Whiskybrother – Review

Whiskybrother is a shop located in Johannesburg, SA, and owed by Marc Pendelbury who’s a fellow whisky blogger and friend. I had the pleasure of meeting Marc a few years back when he was visiting Israel, after knowing him online for some time, and he’s a real great guy and a gentleman. Marc has pursued his love of whisky and …

Oldies Goldies : Caol Ila 27yo, 1984, 56.1% – Signatory for LMDW

Caol Ila. Most thing of them as “that boring, newbies peated malt from Diageo”. While they are big, there are CI’s and there are CIs. the 12 yo is a staple dram, and ANY peat head has to go through that one at some part of his peat journey, but boy o boy, if you’re missing out on older aged …

Quick Dram : Glenugie 31 yo 1977 Signatory

Glenugie malt is not very common nowadays, and this is not surprising due to the fact that the Distillery has not been operational since 1983.
The distillery was founded in 1831, and until it’s closure changed a few owners, and went through a silent period during WWI. In 1937 it reopened and operated until 1983, a tough year in which quite …
