Clynelish 1996 [Blackadder] cask #8782

It’s a good rule of thumb not to base your opinion about a whisky based on a single tasting, at a given evening. It’s not always possible if you’re tasting a small sample that can’t be re-used, but It’s advisable if you have a generous sample, or a bottle. We’ve tasted this BA single cask last week with some friends, …

Clynelish 1996 18 yo cask 6514 [Signatory Vintage]

You never know what you’re going to get when you’re shopping single casks. Each cask is an enigma, and sometimes you score, sometimes you are disappointed. I was browsing WhiskyBase shop when I saw this Clynelish, aged in a refill sherry butt, that looked promising, and decided to get it for a future tasting I am leading. 590 bottles were …

A couple of Wemyss malts from the latest release–Invergordon and Clynelish

Three weeks ago or so Came another single casks release by one of my favorite independent bottlers : Wemyss. as always, each malt (or grain in this instance) has a unique name which characteriszes it, I was lucky to be able to sample three of the recent batch (which was EPIC in size – 12 different casks). Two very different …

More Darkness! : 16 year old Clyenlish [Master of Malt]

After a brief change of dram, here’s another expressions from the latest Darkness! installation by Master of Malt (or Maverick Drinks is you like). Just like the previous Darkness! whiskies , this Clynelish  spent a finishing period of 3 months in tiny, specially coopered, fresh, first-fill Oloroso Sherry casks with huge surface area to volume ratios prior to bottling, as …

Wemyss Clynelish 1997–“Apple Basket”

Let’s kick start this week with a single cask distilled at Clynelish (although not an average Clynelish), and bottled by Wemyss. I do love apple pies and apple crumbles and anything with cooked apples (my weak spot, along with lemon pies). So, what better than to try a liquid form of those?

Tasting 3 new Wemyss malts single casks (latest batch)

A couple of month ago Wemyss released 5 new single casks to their Single cask collection, and continuing their recent trend, they do disclose which distillery is behind the lovely name and descriptions. I really like how they name their expressions, with descriptive names, although not as fancy and posh, and some might say over posh names given to some …
