Ardbeg Lord Robertson Single Cask – SOLD OUT

Well, an Ardbeg single Cask, Sold out? not very surprising if i might add.

i found out about this a bit late, after the entire stock of 220 bottles were sold out on the Ardbeg site. I don’t quite know how long it took them to get all sold, probably a few minutes. Very collectible, Single cask and very expensive also (220 GBP) for the bottle… i wouldnt have invested that sum anyways, but if you are willing to put that amount of money on a 10 year old single cask malt, well…. too late buddies.

a bit of background (from the Ardbeg site):

This rare Ardbeg single cask bottling was laid down 10 years ago to commemorate the distillery visit of Lord Robertson, formerly NATO secretary general.
Born in Port Ellen, Lord Robertson could be considered the original Lord of the Isles and is an Ileach through and through. He has hand signed all 202 bottles from this special cask.
As a dedicated supporter of Erskine, the charity that cares for ex-service men and women, all proceeds from the sale of Lord Robertson’s Single Cask bottling will be donated to this worthy charity.

This baby should be yummy taking into consideration the official tasting notes:

“The whisky has a superb complexity and incredible finesse and balance. The peat is sophisticated and sweet with chocolate and toffee, smoky violets and creamy meringue with cherry pie, clove and star anise. The palate is dark and deep yet also sensuous and gentle – peat smoke, sweet barley and cocoa.”

sounds yummy indeed. a bit expensive don’t you think? but collectors will pay anything.

Oh well, the rest of us mortals will need to do with the more available Ardbegs.

  1. Well, official tasting notes are of course intended to make your mouth water with anticipation 😉

I had the luck to try two single casks at the distilery, one which was absolutely fabulous. All official single cask should be damn fine drams, but they are so sought after that you relly have to be lucky to get them.
