Glen Elgin 2008 12 yo {The Nectar of the Daily Drams}

Good times in Israel and another IB is now imported regularly locally – Non other than the Excellent Nectar of the Daily Drams. horray!

To celebrate this we held an online zoom tasting with Mario Groteklaes of the DD – sampling 5 of the whiskies that found their way into Israel recently. The first tone of which is this Glen Elgin 12 2008 at 46%, not a very impressive ABV but certainly a good palate warmer for a Cask Strength tasting. This comes from an ex-sherry cask (as revealed by Mario).

Glen Elgin 2008 12 yo (The Nectar of the DD), 46% abv

Nose: Very nice and fragrant with green fruit, and some unripe papaya notes as well, some citrus for sure, and apple vinegar with hints of wood. the fresh, fragrant, and bright nose on this one!

Palate: The palate is less citrusy with more fruit, more ripe orange maybe, with hints of sweeter sherry notes, chocolate, and some wood, as well as green apples and pears, and a touch of apple cider vinegar.

Finish: Pepper, apple vinegar, and wood with a hint of chocolate and oranges, maybe a faint note of red grapefruit pith.

Conclusion: A rather enjoyable whisky, with a fresh and sour-ish touch. nice daily dram indeed.

Score: 85/100
