The Three Drinkers Scotch Whisky 17 Year Old – Cask Selection No. 1 , 45% , £39.95
Nose: Quite spicy and fruity, with apples, and ginger biscuits, vanilla, sweet barley sugars as well as a deep woody note, some apricot, and a smoky edge, then more apricot leather.
Palate: More fruity notes, mostly of orchard fruit: apricots, apple peel, allspice, cinnamon and clove, a dried fruit note as well – mostly sultanas, and hints of smoke towards the end, some caramel and a salty edge to it. The wood is also adding a nice touch.
Finish: traces of sultana, oak and vanilla, coconut and wood spice, with toasted wood, smoke.
Conclusion: Quite a lovely vatting, well-integrated, with wood, dried fruit and wisp of smoke, and a lovely woody backbone. for the price, this is a steal. (originally sold at £39.95 on MOM – now all gone).
