This might be the last tasting note for 2019, a very good dramming year , at least for me. Why a Jura of them all? No special reason. Just ‘luck’, i guess.
The dram at hand is a 1989 vintage single malt After it was distilled, it was laid to rest in American white oak bourbon barrels, where it stayed until 2019. It was then bottled at 53.5% ABV for the Rare Vintage series, with the limited 1,500 bottles , at £650 a pop , not very cheap.

Nose: Classic ex-Bourbon profile there, with fresh banana bread , vanilla and pear drops. Quite some wood with notes of Sandalwood and polished oak. rather dusty and even waxy, old wooden benches, fresh pastries, certainly feels it has spend 3 decades in a good cask.
Palate : Thicker and sweeter with candied caramelized apple in syrup, more ripe bananas in vanilla cream, wood spices, cinnamon, oak and peaches along more wood shavings.
Finish : Medium to Long with spiced oak, polished old wood, vanilla.
Conclusion : Delicious stuff indeed. One of the better Juras I’ve yet to taste. It’s not as good as the legendary 1984 I’ve tasted a few years back, but certainly good stuff. Pricing wise, this is a very expensive whisky indeed, so VFM wise, not sure I can recommend this.
