Abbey Whisky Anon 13 yo – review

Im quite the mystery fan myself , and what better than an Anonymous whisky? these ones turn out from time to time from all sort of IB’s and this time from the nice guys over at Abbey Whisky. They usually bottle pretty good drams and however this time around not much info is disclosed they were only stating that this whisky is from  : “one of Scotland’s finest distilleries” and finished in an Oloroso sherry cask”. I have a clue where this one was distilled, but I may be very wrong , so I shall leave the guessing work to you, my faithful readers. Only 90 bottles available, not a lot. So if you’re a fan of mystery drams you better be quick.

Anon. 13 yo 2001 – Batch 1 ,51,5%, Abbey Whisky ‘The Rare Casks’ 2015, £54anon-batch-1-13-year-old-the-rare-casks-abbey-whisky-web

Nose: Warm and cuddly with nice malty feeling to it. There are quite some fruit too : stewed apple and apricot and a hefty dose of sweet dried raisins with a touch of Ginger, nuts and white pepper. Well rounded.

Palate: the palate does feel much more sherry oriented with some sulfur-y notes as well as sweet rum soaked sultanas, naked apples and a nice semi sweet yet quite vinous Oloroso  sherry notes , vanilla and pepper. Some light pear eau de vie. And milk Chocolate.

Finish: Dry . With bitter wood , sultana and red fruit marmalade. Warming.

This is a rather nice middle of the road kind of whisky, It is nice and quite enjoyable sipping as a daily dram or so. at 54 quid, that’s pretty good in my opinion. Still available at Abbey whisky web shop fro 54 quid.

Score:  85/100

Cheers for the sample , guys!
