Nose: Starts with a classic cereal and spice. Wood and some citrus notes as in orange or tangerine marmalade (or what you can call :classic Glenrothes profile), with a hint of ginger.

Palate: Rather woody with quite some of that up front with the nice citrus notes: grapefruit and orange zest , pepper,  for some reason I missed the tobacco notes, not many of those for me.

Finish: Bitter wood. Grapefruit pith. Hints of tobacco leaves. (so this is why they named it so! Aha!)

Bottom line:

It’s a nice Glenrothes for sure, certainly better than some (or most) of the same age OBs, but as for VFM i am not sure here, as almost 120 quid is quite expensive. Glenrothes fans are likely to find this a good option, if they wish to splurge.

Score: 85/100
