Caskstrength and Carry On – 3D Whisky

So there you have it, a whisky in 3D. sounds intriguing? Well, it is. And it comes from non other than the 2 chaps from Caskstrength.net Joel and Neil. They are on a mission to release whiskies from A-Z each year another letter, and this is their 4th year (after Arran,Benriach,Cutty Sark). But this year they chose not one distillery that starts with a “D”, but three such distilleries, and three times the fun. What they’ve done is blended 3 malts from Dailuaine, Dalwhinnie and Dufftown to produce 504 signed an numbered bottles at 56.40% priced at £49.99 (and available ONLY from Master of Malt). The whisky was by Joel and Neil themselves under the guidance of Diageo Master Blender Dr. Matthew Crow. bottle itself comes with stereoscopic 3D label and 3D glasses, which is very cool, and on top of this you can print in 3D (if you have such a printer, or sent to a service) a bottle sleeve in 3D from here . WOW. They have also made a film to explain more so check that out:

Caskstrength and Carry On – 3D Whisky , 56.40%,£49.99

Nose: starts with pear drops. Some candied fruit a certain zestiness and minerality. Nice spice on the second wave: pepper, vanilla and nutmeg.

Palate: a bit chalky. With intense pepper on the front follows by sweeter juices , citrus , mostly ripe orange but some lemon pie too. The middle is more  beefy with dates and prunes but not very sweet. Then getting drier and a bit floral.

Finish:  dry with oak. Fruit and a little spice that lingers.

Lovely stuff all in all, I quite like that, much better than last year’s Curry Sark. Get your while it lasts, I’ve aleady bought a bottle of that. Keep up the good work Guys.

Score: 87/100
