Wemyss Malts Chocolate honeycomb–Bunnahabhain 2001

crunc

This is the first of the new batch just released by Wemyss I am about to review, as i was feeling like and Islay, then I realised this one is not going to give me a peat boost, but the colour was very enticing, and Bunna’s are lovely as well, so here it is. Vintage 2001 making it 13 years old, and by the colour of it, a sherry cask.

Wemyss malts Chocolate Honeycomb, 2001, 46% abv, £52.95 (here)choc_honey

Nose: lovely sherry influence with hints of tobacco , brine and sea salt. A bit of sulphur. Very nice. Sweet thick and briny.

Palate: Big milk chocolate notes, with wee smoke and a lot of brine, Crunchies big time, some more sweetness, and honey. Lovely .

Finish : Chocolate, ginger powder, sultanas, brine, salt, hint of tobacco and smoke.

A little cracker, really surprising. Loved it. An Islay brine with chocolate all around. nice eh?

Score: 87/100
