Tasting 3 new Wemyss malts single casks (latest batch)

A couple of month ago Wemyss released 5 new single casks to their Single cask collection, and continuing their recent trend, they do disclose which distillery is behind the lovely name and descriptions. I really like how they name their expressions, with descriptive names, although not as fancy and posh, and some might say over posh names given to some …

Tasting Cambus 24 yo (Bladnoch Forum)

Moving back in time to the remains of my Bladnoch bottle share samples. This time we’re dealing with Cambus (Camb-what?! you ask?), So, yeah. Cambus WAS a grain distillery located in the lowlands and was closed in 1993. Most Single malt snobs (mainly those who don’t have a clue) do not drink Grain whisky, although those who have tried some …

SMWS 5.29 – ‘Freesias crushed by an escaping car’–Auchentoshan 11 yo

Not all single casks are great, and not all blended mats are mediocre. A saying I just invented, but it’s true. I’ve been tasting quite a few SMWS single casks in recent weeks and this particular one from Auchentoshan is an example that some single casks are not very good sometimes. I am not quite sure why the SMWS picked …

Tasting SMWS 35.51, Glen Moray “Every Flavour Beans”

My Second Glen Moray tasting note on the blog (the first was a Duncan Taylor), and the fourth from the SMWS bottle share series.  distilled in 1976 and aged in an ex-Bourbon first fill cask for 33 years. Not a very common distillery to be bottled, and a good chance to taste something you don’t drink every day.
