Wemyss Malts Take II : Tasting the ‘Smooth Gentleman’ 8 yo

Another Wemyss blended malt, this time we move on from the Islay emphasis of the peat chimney, to this 8 year old with an emphasis on Highland malts from a first fill Bourbon cask. Now let’s see if this gentleman lives up to its name…

Wemyss smooth gentleman 8 yo , £29 wemyss_smooth

Nose:  Starting in the sweet side , honey, fresh cut hay, malty and doughy. Sherry. Je t’aime. a great nose on this one. very smooth and sexy.

Palate: chocolate fudge, stewed fruits, golden syrup, some spices:  cinnamon , ginger.

Finish : chocolate , raisins. medium-long.

The name really becomes of it. Smooth. Chocolaty, and with a certain finesse. Nothing that will blow your mind away, but highly sippable , and very well integrated. Good stuff in my book.

Score: 83/100

Again, Many thanks to Karen for the official sample.
