Whisky Israel Society Summit #4 – Whiskey

It has been some few months since the last Whisky Israel Society Summit #3 (Highland Park theme), time in which all of us found ourselves a little too busy, and so almost half a year later, finally our next summit took place.
We have been planning to give Irish whiskies a dedicated tasting for a while now, and standing to our …

Tasting Creative whisky Co, the exclusive malts , Glenlivet 12 yo

After posting my notes on the Exclusive malts Glengoyne 9 yo , i got a comment from Johan , a whisky blogger from Sweden, and a reader of my blog (Thank you Johan!) who mentioned another lovely bottling from the CWC, of this 12 year old ‘Livet. Johan kindly agreed to send me a wee sample from a bottle of …

Tasting SMWS 31.18 – Jura 20 yo – ‘Manly, masculine dram’

Taking a short break from the Kintra Single Casks (One to go), and back to the well known line of SMWS. This time it’s a Jura. We’re talking about a 20 year old whisky bottled in 2008, from a single Ex Bourbon Hogshead, 259 bottles and named : “Manly, masculine dram”. I’ve previously tasted the OB 21 year old (sherry …

Tasting Kintra Glen Scotia 18 Single Cask

Glen Scotia is the lesser known distillery in Campbeltown, and is often shadowed by the more popular and well known Artisan distillery of Springbank.  It’s also fairly small with an output of about 150,000 litres per year, having only 3 employees making whisky… For me this was my first Glen Scotia ever , and it’s not really surprising sine they …

A different ‘Bunny’–Kintra Bunnahabhain 13 yo

Bunnahabhain is not my favourite among Islay malts, and the OBs tend to be very lightly peated. However the peated versions I’ve had are nice, and I have some very good memories of the 18 year old PX finish from last years’ Feis Ile (It was not heavily peated, but it was excellent, nevertheless). This one is indeed highly peated, …

Kintra Single Cask Collection

Kintra Whisky is a small Dutch company, relatively young. It was established in September 2009 by Eric Molenaar and was a result of his love for Scotland and its whiskies. Prior to founding Kintra Eric had been organizing whisky tasting  sessions for years. Starting with family, friends and co-workers. This slowly developed into more professional N&T events for liquor stores …

Fancy winning a £4,000 bottle of Glenfarclas?

I know i would! You all know I am a bit of a Glenfarclas fan. I think their line-up from the 10 to the 40 is brilliant (and no, I am not a stock holder…)
MoM are organizing another competition and guess what? they are giving away a 50 year old single cask worth a mere £4000.
here goes:
To celebrate Father’s Day …

Tasting Icons of Arran #3: The ‘Westie’

This is the third bottling in the series of “Icons of Arran”. The Previous two bottlings (The Peacock, and the Rowan Tree) were both reviewed by me last year, and were very good. This expression is named after Ruaraidh h (pronounced Roo-ree) the West Highland Terrier belonging to our Distillery Manager James MacTaggart. This limited edition bottling was drawn from …

Preview tasting of AnCnoc 35 yo

A few weeks ago i got an offer i could not say “no” to – Online preview tasting of a yet to be released, 35 year old (one year younger than me, which in whisky age is quite old) AnCnoc. I Immediately said “Yes!” and hopped on the bandwagon. Having previously liked the 12,16 and the 1996 vintage, i …
