WhiskyIsrael Exclusive :: First Israeli Single malt whisky to be released in 2013!!!

israel_flag

We’re very excited here at WhiskyIsrael : The first Israeli, and Jewish distillery is to open its gates a few weeks from now!

We’ve been hearing rumors about this for quite some time now, but since it was unconfirmed, we didn’t want to release this information. In short : A consortium of Israeli wines, Beers and other beverages (whose name we can not reveal at this stage) is in the process of building the first ever whisky distillery to be found in the Holy Land.

According to our source, The distillery will be built in the Upper Galilee, not far from the the sea of Galilee (The Kineret), and will draw its water from one of the cleanest streams located a few miles from it. The name of the distillery is kept secret at this time.

All we currently know is that the first distillation will take place in 2010, and the first release of single malt Israeli whisky will be released sometime during 2013 after 3 short years of maturation. Mind your, that like many Non European distilleries, due to the dry and hot climate of Israel, maturation will take place much faster, so 3 years in the casks will be the equivalent to  8 years of maturation in mainstream whiskies.

The distillery plans to sell its new make spirit, in very small batches, beginning 2011 according to my source, which is very thrilling.

More information will be available when we are permitted to share it with you.

Exciting news, aren’t they?!!?

well, not really. got you! you know why?

it’s April fool’s day !

Slainte!
